Biography

Usher Raymond IV is an inborn Texan, and he grew up in Chatanooga, Tennessee. His parents noticed their son’s knack and thirst for singing when he was very young and would do their uttermost to steer him down the right path. At the age of nine, Usher joined a church choir. Later, the family headed for Atlanta in search for better musical opportunities for their child. There Usher began to sing professionally and made his first records. It was here that he finished high school.

Career

At the age of thirteen, Usher made a performance. It resulted in an invitation to a well-known record label for an audition. He auditioned with B2M and was immediately sighed to the label. The success prompted Usher’s mother to abandon her current job and focus on her son’s musical career. During the time, he was entering his puberty and passing through a voice change period. This did pose some difficulties and required a subtle approach to singing. The label suspended the work on Usher’s label and sent him to Puff Daddy’s “singing/training camp”. The debut album came out in 1994, when the singer turned 16, and it gained some points on Billboard.
His next album appeared in the fall of 1997 with one of its songs scoring No. 1 in a United Kingdom rating. In early 1998, it hit the No. 1 position in the United States and became a platinum single. The album has gone platinum six times. The third album came forth in summer 2001 with two singles topping the most renowned chart. One of its singles earned Usher a Grammy for Best Male R&B Performance. One year later, Usher came up with another single that repeated the 2001 success and earned Usher the award once again.
Usher’s fourth album named “Confessions” was recorded and entered the market in the spring of 2004 and sold another record-breaking one million something copies over just one week. It became the best-selling album written, recorded and performed by a male R&B musician. One of its tunes occupied the top position for nearly a month and a half. The album endowed Usher with three Grammies and lots of other awards.
Usher’s further albums released over the period from 2008 through 2020 have been moderately to highly successful. They would not top the charts as the previous four ones did. The releases took place in 2008, 2010, 2016, 2019, and 2020. He named the last one “Confessions II.”
As of now, Usher boasts a whole batch of albums that have hit number one in major charts. Five of his albums have gone platinum, and one has sold more than 10 million copies and got a diamond certification in the United States. Ten songs topped charts in nine countries, including “Yeah!” from Confessions. All his tunes are shot through with devotion, energy, brilliance, and creativity, which he continues to demonstrate to his numerous fans at live events. The R&B community recognized Usher as a legendary performer, who continues to top R&B singer lists across the world. Over his career, he has given impetus to a generation of young R&B performers and garnered respect from those working in other genres. There is hardly an R&B artist in the world not influenced by Usher’s songs. He has received numerous offers from and partnered with business whales like Mastercard and Samsung.
Many renowned artists have invited Usher to cooperate with them on their products, and he has featured in their singles and albums. There is hardly a performer who can boast such a great number of invitations and major music awards.

Apart from singing, Usher works as an actor. He has appeared in Moesha, In The Mix, The Faculty, and other projects. He runs his own record label, co-owns a professional basketball team, and Tidal.
Back in 2008, Usher partnered with Scooter Brown, and the two established a record company – RBMG Records. They began to promote young and promising performers. Particularly, in cooperation with Def Jam, the company signed Justin Bieber, who was then in his teens. It was Scooter Broun who had spotted a YouTube vid of Justin Bieber and invited him to an audition. The audition was successful and gave Justin Bieber a good start in music life.
